Marvel Actor Finn Jones Discusses Future of Iron Fist and Potential Heroes for Hire Series in an exclusive interview

Earlier this year, Marvel announced that several series previously outside the MCU, including “Daredevil” and “Punisher,” which are now officially part of the MCU.

Filming for a new “Daredevil” series – Daredevil Born Again is already in full swing, and a recent Instagram post by Iron Fist actor Finn Jones sparked rumors about his character’s potential return.

In an exclusive interview, The Nerd Shepherd spoke with Finn Jones at Heroes Dutch Comic Con in Utrecht, where the event celebrated its 10th anniversary.

When asked about his expectations for the future of Iron Fist, now that the series is officially part of the MCU, Jones shared his thoughts candidly with The Nerd Shepherd.

I have no expectations in this industry, especially at this moment. It’s really unprecedented — strikes, COVID. Things you think will happen don’t; things that wouldn’t happen do. So to have expectations as an actor in 2024 is just impossible.

However, he clarified that his expectations differ from his intentions.

“My intention — I would love to see the character continue; I would love to keep playing that character. I think there are still many growth opportunities, and professionally I’m at a point where I’d love to grow further with Iron Fist,” Jones added.

With Daredevil: Born Again not too far, the possibility of an Iron Fist continuation seems far from unlikely, albeit potentially in a different form. In a previous interview, Jones hinted at a possible “Heroes for Hire” series, where he would love to share the screen again with Mike Colter (Luke Cage).

Jones responded positively when asked about this idea: “That would be great. I’d love to see the chemistry between Mike and me again. It was always fantastic. I think they are interesting characters to bring together. I believe many great stories could be told with those characters. And if they were to bring Mike and me back to do a ‘Heroes for Hire’ TV series, I think that would be the right path.”

Speculation has been rife, fueled by a photo Jones posted on Instagram featuring an Iron Fist comic, leading fans to believe a return of the character is in the pipeline.

However, Jones clarified the situation: “It’s interesting to see how much the internet loves to speculate and fantasize. I was at a Comic-Con in Brussels. A fan came up to me and gave me one of the first issues of Iron Fist. The kind of people you meet and how people really care about your journey as an actor in these things — it’s really beautiful to see. And, I was packing to leave; it was just sticking out of my bag. That’s really all there is to it.”

If a character is returning to the MCU, the actors usually tiptoe around the topic, never really confirming if they are in it or not. As of now, a solo Iron Fist series doesn’t seem to be in the planned slate for Marvel Studios but we never know.
