Geoff Keighley, host of the Summer Game Fest, has hinted that this year’s kickoff show might not feature as many shocking announcements as previous years.
However, this could be a move to manage expectations and surprise the audience. Among the anticipated reveals are several exciting horror-related games. Additionally, a new rumour suggests that the next entry in the Borderlands series, Borderlands 4, might make its debut at the event.

The rumour originates from leaker Kurakasis, who has a growing reputation for accurate information, supported by eXputer. According to Kurakasis, Borderlands 4 will either be unveiled at the Summer Game Fest kickoff or announced shortly before, with a more detailed reveal during the show.
While it’s wise to approach this rumour with caution until official confirmation, 2K Games has teased that they will reveal the next iteration of one of their “biggest and most beloved franchises” at the Summer Game Fest.
This has led to speculation, with some fans hoping for Mafia 4, but Borderlands 4 seems the most likely candidate, especially with the upcoming Hollywood movie.
While Borderlands and Borderlands 2 were exceptionally good, Borderlands 3 is considered the weaker instalment by the fans. Despite selling well, many fans would rather get a new Mafia game instead of Borderlands 4.
The Summer Game Fest kickoff show will stream live this Friday, June 7, at 2 PM PT (2.30 am IST June 8).
