The much-anticipated anime adaptation of The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-Sensei: He Just Solves All the Mysteries will begin airing in April 2025. A teaser trailer, new key visuals, and primary cast details were recently unveiled, heightening excitement among fans of the supernatural mystery genre.

Cast and Crew

  • Kana Kusakabe voiced by Kaori Maeda (Senpai is an Otokonoko).
  • Akihiko Chuzenji voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi (The Elusive Samurai).

Directed by Chihiro Kumano, the anime is being produced by 100studio, with Atsushi Oka handling scripts and animation supervision. Character designs are by Masahiko Suzuki, adapted from Aki Shimizu’s artwork in the original manga serialized by Kodansha.

Plot and Setting

Set in post-war Tokyo in 1948, this supernatural school mystery follows Kana Kusakabe, a high school sophomore who becomes embroiled in strange and otherworldly events. She seeks assistance from Akihiko Chuzenji, her grumpy Japanese language teacher, who has a knack for solving enigmatic cases.

The series serves as a prequel to the popular Kyogokudo universe, originally penned by Natsuhiko Kyogoku, and offers a blend of detective work with eerie paranormal undertones.

Source Material and Legacy

The anime is adapted from Aki Shimizu’s manga, which is a spin-off of Kyogoku’s Rozen Kreuz novel series. The manga has been serialized since 2019 and recently transitioned to Kodansha’s Comic Days platform​.
