The fantasy-comedy manga The Barbarian’s Bride by Noriaki Kotoba is set to receive a TV anime adaptation, slated for release in 2025. The anime’s teaser trailer and key visuals were released, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come.
The series follows Serafina de Lavillant, the strongest female knight of the West, who is captured by the barbaric tribes of the East after a failed mission. Expecting harsh punishment, Serafina instead finds herself facing an unexpected proposition: marriage to the tribe’s leader.
The plot blends elements of romance, action, and comedy as Serafina navigates this new world, discovering that the “barbarians” may not be as savage as she was led to believe.

Seven Seas describes the story as:
Serafina de Lavillant, the strongest female knight in the West, was sent to subjugate the barbaric tribes of the East. But when her mission fails spectacularly, she’s captured alive and imprisoned. Humiliated and dreading what horrific torture she’ll endure, she asks to be put to death. To her surprise, rather than tearing her limb from limb, the tribe leader asks for her hand…in marriage! Will Serafina face a cruel and abusive arranged marriage? Or will she discover that these tribes aren’t as barbaric as she was led to believe?
The manga has been serialized in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine since 2021, with Seven Seas Entertainment releasing it in English. The first volume is expected to ship in mid-October 2024, while the anime is generating buzz with its comedic and romantic fantasy tones.
Fans are particularly excited to see how the lively dynamics between Serafina and her unexpected suitor will be portrayed on screen.
