The official website for the television anime adaptation of Misaki Takamatsu’s “Skip and Loafer” manga has announced that a second season is in production. To commemorate this news, Takamatsu shared a celebratory illustration. Crunchyroll has confirmed it will stream the upcoming season, continuing its partnership from the first season.
“Skip and Loafer” follows the journey of Mitsumi Iwakura, an ambitious student from a rural town who moves to Tokyo with dreams of attending a prestigious university and effecting positive change in the world. Unprepared for the challenges of city life, she befriends Sōsuke Shima, a laid-back and handsome classmate. Their evolving relationship forms the heart of this charming slice-of-life series.

The first season, produced by P.A. Works and directed by Kotomi Deai, aired from April to June 2023, receiving positive reviews for its endearing characters and storytelling. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan.
The manga, serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon since August 2018, has garnered critical acclaim and a growing readership. By March 2024, it had over 2.3 million copies in circulation. In 2023, “Skip and Loafer” won the 47th Kodansha Manga Award in the general category, further cementing its status as a standout series in contemporary manga.
Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the manga in English, describing it as a story about an excellent student from a small town navigating the overwhelming city life of a Tokyo high school, with the support of a handsome and laid-back classmate.
As of now, there is no confirmed release date for the second season. Fans can find it on Crunchyroll upon release.
