The first trailer for the upcoming Ranma 1/2 anime has been released, providing a glimpse into the new adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi’s classic manga. Animated by MAPPA and set to premiere on October 5, 2024, the trailer debuted during a special live stream event, alongside a new visual and additional details about the series.

Original Voice Cast Returns
The new adaptation brings back the original voice cast from the 80s and 90s anime, with a few notable changes:

- Ranma Saotome (female): Megumi Hayashibara
- Akane Tendo: Noriko Hidaka
- Nabiki Tendo: Minami Takayama
- Kasumi Tendo: Kikuko Inoue

- Genma Saotome: Cho (replacing Kenichi Ogata, who will now voice the Narrator)

Production Team and Theme Song
The anime is directed by Konosuke Uda, known for his work on One Piece. The series composition is handled by Kimiko Ueno (Delicious in Dungeon), with character designs by Hiromi Taniguchi (FLCL Alternative costume designer) and music composed by Kaoru Wada (Inuyasha). The opening theme song will be performed by ano, renowned for her work on Chainsaw Man.

Series Synopsis
Ranma 1/2 follows Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo of the Tendo Dojo, who are betrothed by their parents. However, Ranma faces a unique challenge: after falling into the cursed springs of Jusenkyo during training in China, he transforms into a girl when doused with cold water and reverts to a boy with hot water.
