YOASOBI’s “Idol” Wins Gold at the JASRAC Awards!
The two-member unit YOASOBI has once again captured the spotlight. Their third single, “Idol,” featured as the opening theme for the anime “Oshi no Ko,” has won the prestigious Gold Award at the JASRAC Awards. Announced on May 22, this award highlights the song’s significant impact and success.
The JASRAC (Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers, and Publishers) Awards, honor the achievements of lyricists, composers, and music publishers. It is a major honor in the Japanese music industry, recognizing the best-selling songs of the year.
The awards consider the distribution of royalties from various sources like streaming, karaoke, and commercials. This year marks the 42nd edition of these esteemed awards, celebrating works from the previous fiscal year.

“Idol,” composed by Ayase, was digitally released on April 12, 2023, followed by a CD release on June 21. The song has seen remarkable success both in Japan and internationally.
It became Spotify’s most played song of 2023 in Japan and achieved a historic milestone as the first Japanese-sung song to top the U.S. Billboard’s global chart “Global Excl. U.S.”

In addition to YOASOBI’s triumph, other winners at the JASRAC Awards 2024 include:
- Silver Award: “Kawaikute Gomen” by HoneyWorks, featured in the TV anime “Heroines Run the Show.”
- Bronze Award: “Senkou” by [Alexandros], the theme song for the anime film “Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway.”
- International Award: Yasuharu Takanashi’s “Naruto Shippuden Background Music,” which has won for five consecutive years since 2020.
- Foreign Music Award: “BITTERSWEET SAMBA.“
