The creative minds behind the hit series “Odd Taxi,” Mugi Kinoshita and Kazuya Konomoto, are teaming up once again for a brand-new animated film titled “Housenka” (Beautiful Impeller).
Mugi Kinoshita, the director and character designer, and Kazuya Konomoto, the scriptwriter, have a proven track record of creating compelling stories.
Their collaboration on “Odd Taxi” earned widespread acclaim, with Kinoshita winning the Best Director award at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2022 and the Newcomer Award in Animation at the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival. Konomoto, known for his manga “Setoutsumi” and work on “Black School Rules,” brought his storytelling prowess to “Odd Taxi,” making it a standout series.
A Sneak Peek into “Housenka”
An intriguing visual has been released, showing a man gazing at fireworks from a veranda. While details are scarce, Kinoshita hinted that “Housenka” will offer a fresh and unique animation experience. The film is set to participate in the “Work in Progress” program at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2024, a prestigious event that showcases upcoming films.
About the Production Studio
“Housenka” will be produced by CLAP, the studio behind beloved films like “Pompo the Cinephile” and “The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbye.” CLAP has a reputation for high-quality productions, having won the Paul Grimaud Prize at the 2023 Annecy International Animated Film Festival and the 32nd Japan Film Critics Award.
On June 12th, at the Annecy festival, Kinoshita will be joined by producer and CLAP CEO Matsuo Ryoichiro and concept artist Michinoku Toge for a special talk stage. This event will give fans an inside look at the making of “Housenka” and is sure to be a highlight for anime fans.
