Marvel’s “Blade” reboot seems to be stuck in development hell since it was announced back in 2019. However, some good news exist as Maharshalla Ali is still stuck with the project and we now have confirmation about another actor sticking with the role in the movie.
According to a report by Hollywood Reporter, Mia Goth is still attached to the project as Lilith. Known for her standout performances in “Pearl” and “Maxxxine,” Goth is reportedly set to play Lilith, the vampire queen.
Who is Lilith in Marvel Comics?
Lilith Drake’s character, originally created by Marv Wolfman, Gene Colan, first appeared in 1994 in Giant-Size Chillers Featuring Curse of Dracula #1. She is introduced as Dracula’s first child, who gains elevated vampiric powers and immunity to sunlight to seek revenge on her father after he murders her adopted family.
Lilith’s ability to die and be reborn, her complex motivations, and her occasional role as an antihero add depth to the narrative.

There is another version of Lilith created by Howard Mackie and Andy Kubert, which appeared first in Ghost Rider Vol. 3 in 1992. She is an immortal goddess who controls all the demons.
She is a straightforward antagonist to many characters like Blade, Doctor Strange, and Ghost Rider. She is one of Marvel’s most powerful demons and is both a sorceress and a goddess. She wields eldritch energy to strike or obliterate foes, conjures shields to protect vampires from sunlight, creates new Lilin from nothing or converts creatures, and teleports herself or others.
Her power and resilience surpass those of her children, posing a significant challenge even to formidable opponents like Ghost Rider.
Blade development issues
However, the journey to bring this reboot to life has been marked by significant changes in its creative team. Yann Demange, initially signed on as the director, recently exited the project, making him the second director to leave after Bassam Tariq stepped down in September 2022.
Demange’s departure was described as amicable, but it has left the project without a publicly announced director. This turnover has added to the film’s tumultuous production history, reflecting the challenges of rebooting such an iconic character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Eric Pearson, a veteran Marvel Studios writer known for his work on “Black Widow” and “Thor: Ragnarok,” is the latest to tackle the Blade script. Pearson is working from a previous draft by Michael Starrbury. Despite these changes, the film is still slated for a fall 2025 release, although this date remains tentative given the project’s evolving nature.

Despite these challenges, the excitement surrounding “Blade” remains high. The character’s blend of horror and superhero elements offers a unique addition to the MCU, promising a darker and edgier tone compared to other Marvel films. Fans are particularly intrigued by Mia Goth’s involvement, given her acclaim in the horror genre, which aligns well with the film’s anticipated direction.
