Makoto Shinkai’s critically acclaimed film, Suzume (Suzume no Tojimari), is now available to stream on Netflix!

This exciting news comes after the film’s theatrical debut in Japan in November 2022 and North America in April 2023. Suzume quickly rose to the top of the Japanese box office charts and garnered over $10 million during its U.S. run.

Suzume follows the adventures of Suzume Iwato, a young woman voiced by actress Nanoka Hara. The film centers around her journey with Sōta Munakata, a mysterious traveler, voiced by idol group member Hokuto Matsumura. Together, they embark on a quest to close mysterious doors that have begun to appear throughout Japan.

Suzume is directed by the renowned Makoto Shinkai, the mind behind global hits like “Your Name.” and “Weathering With You.” Shinkai is known for his stunning visuals and emotionally resonant storytelling, and Suzume promises to be no exception.

Suzume is now streaming on Netflix in 169 countries, including the United States and Japan as announced by Netflix on Friday . While Suzume is now on Netflix, Crunchyroll also offers the film with the option of Japanese audio with English subtitles or an English dub.
