Ultron is making a comeback and James Spader is officially returning to voice Ultron in the upcoming Vision Quest series, a spinoff of WandaVision. This marks Spader’s first return to the role since 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.
The new series, though still untitled, is expected to explore the journey of White Vision, played by Paul Bettany, as he seeks to rediscover his identity after the events of WandaVision.
One of the most intriguing aspects of Vision Quest is the potential return of Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch. While her involvement hasn’t been officially confirmed, rumors are circulating that she might appear. We might get an idea about Wanda’s fate in the MCU with Agatha All Along releasing soon.
Given Wanda and Vision’s deep connection throughout the MCU, this would make narrative sense. After her ambiguous fate at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Wanda’s return could provide continuity and explore unresolved aspects of her story
The series is part of a trilogy that began with WandaVision and continues with Agatha All Along, set to premiere in September 2024. With Vision Quest expected to round out this trilogy, the storyline could dive deeper into the psychological and emotional aspects of Vision’s and Wanda’s characters, potentially leading to further exploration of Wanda’s redemption arc.
As filming is expected to start in early 2025 with a release targeted for 2026, the anticipation is building for how Marvel will continue these beloved characters’ stories, especially with the added complexity of Ultron’s return.
