Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (Sosou no Frieren) is one of my all-time favorite anime and I am sure it is the case for many. The first season was received with much fanfare with its simplistic story, compelling characters, soothing visuals, and the occasional jaw-dropping action sequences.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End has officially confirmed the release of its second season, with an announcement made during the series’ anniversary event. Madhouse will be returning to animate the second season.
The announcement was made along an illustration and a teaser.
The anime was split into two cours (parts), with the second cour airing in early 2024. The first season concluded with the message, “The Journey to Ende Continues,” hinting at further exploration of Frieren’s character and world.
The second season of Frieren will continue after the end of the First-Class Mage Exam as the trio continues to journey towards Aureole. The second season will continue adapting the Continued Northern Travels, Divine Revolte Arc, and beyond.

In addition, director Keiichiro Saito, writer Tomohiro Suzuki, composer Evan Call, and character designer Reiko Nagasawa are set to return, ensuring continuity in the anime’s tone, style, and storytelling.
Manga and Prequel Novel Updates

A prequel novel titled Shosetsu Soso no Frieren Zenso is also scheduled for release alongside the manga’s 13th volume in April 2024. This novel will delve into five original stories involving characters like Frieren, Fern, and Stark.
