Remnant: From the Ashes was a sleeper hit of 2019. It took the soulslike formula and added some great gunplay to it. Famously dubbed as “Soulslike with Guns”, it added something new to the soulslike genre.

With chaotic and difficult boss fights, hordes of grunt enemies, different worlds to explore, interesting lore and a lot of different guns, and armour, it became a hit. With Remnant 2, it improved on a lot of aspects from the first game and provided an even better experience.

If you’ve enjoyed the action-packed gameplay and atmospheric storytelling of the Remnant series, then you are probably wondering if there are other games like Remnant.

Well, there are.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Set in the Star Wars universe, players take on the role of Cal Kestis, a young Jedi on the run from the Empire. The game’s intense, tactical lightsaber combat, coupled with its intricate level design and compelling story, offers a rewarding experience.

Even if it is not a shooter, it is very similar to the Remnant series in a lot of different ways. You explore different planets and fight off world bosses as you discover new places and little secrets spread around.

Different enemy types can give you decent challenge and boss fights have the typical soulslike element with dodge and hit. Although there are no different weapons for you to try, you get different stances and various “Force” abilities.

In Jedi Survivor, you also get a stance with a blaster. It doesn’t make the game a shooter but it is shooting nonetheless. If you like the exploration and dungeon clear elements in the Remnant, you will certainly like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

Scars Above

Scars Above has mixed opinions from gamers and critics but it is a game like Remnant in a lot of ways. While it is not strictly soulslike, it does feature combat and boss fights that is soulslike.

Scars Above is a sci-fi, third-person shooter that is set in a mysterious alien world. The gameplay features a blend of third-person shooting, strategic weapon usage, and environmental puzzles.

The game is relatively short and if you need some time off Remnant and want to play something similar, you can give this a shot.

Tom Clancy: Division 2

Set in a post-apocalyptic Washington D.C., The Division 2 offers a blend of intense gunplay, tactical teamwork, and expansive open-world exploration.

Developed by Ubisoft, this third-person shooter RPG challenges players to navigate through urban environments, scavenge for resources, and engage in intense firefights against rival factions.

With its emphasis on cooperative multiplayer and dynamic world events, Division 2 provides a similar sense of co-op gameplay and survival as Remnant.

Immortal Unchained

Immortal: Unchained is not a very well-known game. It is an action RPG Soulslike with gunplay and released before the first Remnant: From the Ashes.

Although it received mixed reception, it is worth checking out. Just like Remnant, it incorporates gunplay, casting players as a living weapon on a mission to prevent the apocalypse.

Players must manage their stamina, be mindful of enemy placements, and conserve ammunition to survive against challenges. With a variety of guns and melee options, you get to choose your own playstyle.

Immortal: Unchained is probably the most similar game to Remnant, but it didn’t quite match the players’ expectations. Still, worth a try.

Bloodborne

The King of Soulslike, Bloodborne is the first to incorporate guns into the soulslike genre. You can experiment with a variety of guns, from the powerful cannon to the simple pistol.

For those not inclined to shoot everything in sight, the gun can be used strategically for parrying. Plus, you get the classic soulslike melee options and combat.

While the gunplay in Bloodborne is relatively simple, it adds a highly enjoyable layer to the classic soulslike melee combat. If you already like souls games like Dark Souls and shooters like Remnant, Bloodborne can give you a mix of both worlds!

Witchfire

Witchfire did an interesting thing with soulslike. Similar to Remnant, it has gunplay, but first-person. It has a dark atmosphere similar to all soulslike games and the combat is fast-paced and fluid, requiring quick reflexes.

You can wield a variety of weapons, each with distinct characteristics. Whether it’s a high-damage shotgun for close encounters or a precise rifle for long-range engagements, you can choose what suits your playstyle.

Adding a unique twist to the gunplay, Witchfire incorporates spellcasting into its combat mechanics. Players can cast powerful spells to complement their shooting, creating devastating combinations to overcome enemies. Witchfire is very much similar to Remnant but in first person.

Outriders

Outriders is an action RPG game with a blend of intense combat, deep customization, and a gripping narrative. This sci-fi adventure sets you on the hostile planet of Enoch, where you take on the role of Outriders, elite soldiers with extraordinary powers.

It is a game that is very similar to Remnant 2. It features 4 different classes (like archetypes) to suit your playstyle and loads of guns to shoot enemies. The loot mechanics and the boss fights are very reminiscent of the Remnant series. It offers a co-op mode to play with your friends.
