Captain America Brave New World kicks off the second trilogy with Sam Wilson as Captain America. Steve Rogers has effectively retired and passed on the mantle to Sam Wilson. This movie will deal with Sam stepping up as a leader and truly embracing “Captain America”.
Marvel has released its first trailer which shows the overall plot of the movie and reveals a lot about its cast and their roles in the MCU. Here is a complete list of the cast of Captain America Brave New World.
Anthonie Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America
Anthonie Mackie made his first MCU debut in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” as Falcon. Since then, he has appeared in many movies and has been an important part of Avengers. In the “Falcon and The Winter Soldier”, he first appeared as Captain America.
Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres/Falcon
Danny first appeared in the Falcon and The Winter Soldier Disney+ series and took up the mantle of Falcon from Sam Wilson. Torres, a former U.S. Air Force lieutenant and intelligence officer, is a close friend of Sam Wilson.
Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross/Red Hulk
Veteran actor Harrison Ford will make his MCU debut as the U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, a role previously portrayed by the late William Hurt in five MCU films from “The Incredible Hulk” to “Avengers Infinity War”. The trailer for Captain America Brave New World shows Ross finally transforming into the Red Hulk.
Red Hulk possesses the same power set as the “regular” Hulk but he can generate intense heat as he gets angrier.
Giancarlo Esposito as Seth Voelker a.k.a Sidewinder
Giancarlo is an iconic actor known for his villain roles and MCU fans were expecting him to play an A-tier villain in the MCU. However, the latest trailer shows him playing a rather more “human” villain. The character that Giancarlo will play was confirmed at the Marvel SDCC Panel.
Giancarlo will play the character of Seth Voelker, the “The King of Serpents” Sidewinder. Sidewinder is the leader of the Serpent Society and doesn’t possess any unique powers. However, he uses equipment that lets him teleport others.
Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns/The Leader
Tim Blake Nelson reprises his role as Samuel Sterns, also known as the Leader, in Captain America: Brave New World, 16 years after his initial appearance in The Incredible Hulk. Sterns, a scientist collaborating with Bruce Banner to cure the Hulk, gains superhuman intellect instead of strength after Banner’s blood drips into his head wound.
The Leader, a major antagonist in Marvel Comics, is known for his genius-level intellect and elaborate schemes, posing a significant threat to superheroes. Nelson’s return marks a long-awaited continuation of his character’s story in the MCU.
Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley
With first appearance in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Carl Lumbly will make his MCU debut in the next Captain America movie. An African-American Korean War veteran and super soldier, Isaiah Bradley, was imprisoned and experimented on for 30 years. His harrowing experience highlights the dark side of the super soldier program, as he endured decades of inhumane treatment and secrecy.
Shira Haas as Ruth Bat-Seraph/Sabra
Shira Haas will appear in Captain America: Brave New World as Ruth Bat-Seraph, a former Black Widow. Now a high-ranking U.S. government official, Ruth has earned the trust of President Thaddeus Ross. In the comics, her character, Sabra, also possesses super strength and first appeared in the Incredible Hulk series in the early 80’s.
Rosa Salazar as Rachel Leighton/Diamondback
Rosa Salazar will make her MCU debut with Rachel Leighton, also known as Diamondback, in “Captain America: Brave New World”. In the comics, Diamondback is a skilled mercenary and a member of the Serpent Society. Known for her agility and expertise with thrown weapons, she often uses diamond-shaped blades. Her complex relationship with Captain America adds depth to her character, blending her criminal past with moments of redemption.
Liv Tyler as Betty Ross
Liv Tyler reprises her role as Betty Ross in Captain America: Brave New World. Previously seen in “The Incredible Hulk”(2008), Betty Ross is a brilliant scientist and the daughter of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. Her deep connection with Bruce Banner and her expertise in cellular biology makes her a key figure in the Hulk’s story.
Apart from these major roles, Takehiro Hira stars as Prime Minister Ozaki, with Seth Rollins, and Phuong Kubacki cast in unspecified roles. The film is directed by Julius Onah, with the screenplay penned by Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson, and Matthew Orton.
