Aniplex has announced an exciting new original anime project titled Virgin Punk, helmed by renowned director Yasuomi Umetsu, and produced by the acclaimed animation studio SHAFT. The series was introduced during the Aniplex Online Fest, revealing a teaser visual and a promotional video for the first story, “Clockwork Girl.”
The series is set to debut in the early summer of next year, with limited screenings in Tokyo and Osaka cinemas.
Virgin Punk revolves around Ubu, a young woman who, despite being repeatedly struck by misfortunes, transforms into a mere shadow of her former self. The narrative explores the complex desires and chaotic struggles of the powerful figures around her.

Supporting the project are notable industry veterans like Gen’ichirou Abe (Kizumonogatari), Shinya Takahashi (Battle Angel), and Maho Kando (Josee, the Tiger and the Fish). The production boasts a remarkable lineup of staff, including sub-character designer Keita Matsumoto and 3D animation support from multiple studios.
