CDPR Projekt Red has had a great year, with Phantom Liberty expansion doing good sales. The Polish studio’s earning report for the year 2023 shows that 2023 was one of the best years for them.
CD Projekt Red has reached an incredible milestone, selling over 100 million games! This success is fueled by the impressive sales of both the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion (5 million copies) in addition to the 20 million copies sold for the base Cyberpunk 2077, and the enduring popularity of The Witcher series (75 million copies).
We already know that they are working on a new saga for the Witcher series codenamed “Polaris” and also working on a remake of the Witcher series.
CDProjekt has given an update on their projects and it looks like it will be quite some time until we see a new game from the studio.
CDPR’s ambitious plans for the Witcher franchise and Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel (Orion) have hit some delays. “Polaris” was expected to enter full production this year but hasn’t yet.
“Project Sirius” experienced a creative reset and remains in pre-production. Major overhauls like The Witcher Remake and the Cyberpunk sequel are still very early in their development.
On the good side, CDPR’s development priorities seem to be clear: the upcoming Witcher sequels have the largest allocation of resources.
The Cyberpunk 2077 sequel also receives significant attention, mainly from the Boston studio. Development on Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty has mostly wrapped up. Project Hadar, CDPR’s new IP, is gaining momentum with a dedicated team of 20 working on its initial concepts.
