The highly anticipated anime adaptation of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is scheduled to premiere in April 2025. Announced during Jump Festa 2025, the series will delve into the backstory of vigilante heroes operating outside the law, set five years before the events of the main My Hero Academia storyline.
Production Team and Studio
Kenichi Suzuki, known for his work on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Cells at Work!, will direct the series. The animation is being handled by BONES FILM, a newly established subsidiary of Studio BONES, renowned for animating the original My Hero Academia series.
Yōsuke Kuroda returns from the main series to oversee the script, ensuring continuity in storytelling. Character designs are entrusted to Takahiko Yoshida, recognized for his work on Yowamushi Pedal and Cells at Work! The musical score will be composed by Yuki Hayashi, alongside Shōgo Yamashiro and Yūki Furuhashi, promising a dynamic and engaging soundtrack.

Plot Overview
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes follows Koichi Haimawari, a young man who, despite not being a licensed hero, uses his modest Quirk to perform good deeds. After a chance encounter with local thugs, he teams up with two other unlikely heroes, embarking on a journey that reveals that combating evil requires more than just bravery.
This spin-off story offers a deeper understanding of the vigilante heroes who operate outside the official hero system, providing fans with a fresh perspective on the My Hero Academia universe.
Manga Background
The original manga, written by Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Betten Court, was serialized in Shueisha’s Jump Giga starting in August 2016 before moving to Shonen Jump+ in December 2016. The series concluded in May 2022, spanning 15 volumes. Viz Media has published the manga in English, both digitally and in print, making it accessible to a global audience.
