Suicide Squad ISEKAI Episode 5 Recap: Dragons and Drama

Suicide Squad Facing The Dragon

Episode 5 of Suicide Squad ISEKAI introduces a thrilling dragon fight, a new adorable mascot, and sets the stage for an epic ‘Squad vs. Squad’ showdown

In Episode 5 of Suicide Squad ISEKAI, the narrative kicks off with the team effortlessly resetting the timers on their bomb collars, a task that surprisingly lacks the expected high-stakes tension.

The Squad is then tasked with aiding the Kingdom in its struggle against the Empire, which is depicted through a series of montage scenes rather than detailed battle sequences, emphasizing that these skirmishes are not the central focus of the episode.

After a series of intense battles with the Empire, Deadshot runs out of bullets. Harley Quinn, in a whimsical moment, also exhausts her ammunition by using the last of her bullets to draw a heart on a boulder. Drawing inspiration from zombie movies, Harley suggests using a frying pan as an effective weapon in such situations. Flag mentions that his helicopter, left on a mountain, is stocked with plenty of weapons. Cecil then proposes retrieving the weapons and regrouping later.

A brief interlude showcases the Suicide Squad bonding with a group of orcs, adding a touch of camaraderie to the storyline. However, the primary focus swiftly shifts to a much larger challenge: battling a dragon, which has made Flag’s helicopter its nest.

This segment of the episode offers a mix of action and humor, with Clayface utilizing his newly acquired earthbending abilities, Harley Quinn wielding a frying pan in true Looney Tunes fashion, and Deadshot engaging in a dramatic showdown despite being low on ammo.

The dragon fight stands out, especially when Deadshot’s last bullet is deflected by the dragon’s clever move, closing its eyelids, leading to a moment of desperation. With bullets scarce, Harley Quinn comes to the rescue, handing Deadshot a rocket launcher. Deadshot ultimately kills the dragon, but not without some dramatic moments, including nearly being crushed by the dragon’s corpse and being saved by King Shark.

The animation quality during this fight sequence varies, with some scenes showing characters looking slightly off-model. Despite this, the battle is engaging, albeit not as visually spectacular as other fights in the series.

Following the dragon’s defeat, the episode takes a lighter turn as the Squad discovers a dragon egg. Harley Quinn adopts the newly hatched dragon, naming it Arthur after King Arthur, adding an endearing new mascot to the series. Arthur, the baby dragon, is anticipated to play a similar role to Pikachu in Pokémon, providing a cute and marketable addition to the cast.

The episode concludes with a cliffhanger, as the Suicide Squad encounters two formidable foes: The Thinker and Enchantress, hinting at the much-anticipated “Squad vs. Squad” conflict. This confrontation has been teased in trailers, promising intense battles in the upcoming episodes.

Overall, Episode 5 serves as a transitional chapter, introducing Arthur the dragon while setting the stage for future conflicts. While the dragon fight and character interactions are entertaining, the episode primarily acts as a buildup to the impending “Squad vs. Squad” showdown, which promises to be a highlight of the series.
