Eyes of Wakanda First Trailer Reveals a Surprise Cameo by Iron Fist

The first official trailer for the Eyes of Wakanda is here, which delves deeper into the overall plot of the limited mini-series. The trailer also shows a surprise Iron Fist cameo, although it is not the Danny Rand Iron Fist from the Netflix series.

Eyes of Wakanda is a four‑episode animated anthology deeply rooted in the sacred timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing out in full continuity with Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Premiering on Disney+ on August 1, 2025, the series was unexpectedly moved up from its original late August slot. Every episode will be dropped simultaneously for a binge‑ready experience, unlike other Marvel TV projects.

Conceived and directed by Todd Harris and executive‑produced by Ryan Coogler, Eyes of Wakanda serves as a bold expansion of Wakanda’s mythology. As Harris put it, a chance “to do the thing that a movie has trouble doing,” building the world beyond even the richly imagined films.

With a stellar ensemble voice cast—including Patricia Belcher, Anika Noni Rose, Steve Toussaint, Lynn Whitfield, Gary Anthony Williams, Jacques Colimon, and more—Eyes of Wakanda promises to elevate Wakanda beyond the Black Panther mythos into a sweeping chronicle of unsung heroes.

Set across different eras beginning in 1260 BC, the narrative centers on the elite spy force known as the Hatut Zaraze – Wakanda’s covert warriors tasked with reclaiming stolen Vibranium artifacts from across the globe. The first episode introduces Noni, voiced by Winnie Harlow, a disgraced former Dora Milaje operative drawn into the Zaraze. She faces off against The Lion, a corrupt general‑turned‑tyrant voiced by Cress Williams, who intends to use Wakandan technology to build his own empire.

Creator Todd Harris confirmed that an Iron Fist appears in the series, but not the one fans might expect. Since there have been multiple Iron Fist throughout history, we might see someone from the past. Writers Marc Bernardin and Geoffrey Thorne intentionally explored the lesser-known corners of the Marvel universe to see “what they could get away with,” adding unexpected depth and surprises to the narrative.

Each episode of Eyes of Wakanda is set in a different era and location, sometimes separated by centuries, showing how the actions of Wakandan heroes ripple through history, not just Marvel history, but global events too. The series challenges the idea that history is written by the victors, aiming instead to reveal the untold stories of these warriors.
